Whoa
First update in a while. Sorry it's just a blog entry, but I don't have any ideas right now. The reason for my absence, fortunately, was not anything to worry about. I simply decided to replay Tears of the Kingdom and logged about 61 hours over the course of a week LOL. The game has a way of totally capturing my attention and not allowing me to do anything else. I am nearing the end of my second playthrough though, as I do not really know how much more I want to play, as I LOATHE all of the mandatory main story content and have been putting it off for as long as possible, so I might just stop soon if I run out of fun content.
Tears of the Kingdom Extended
This section is for me to talk a bit more about this game. If you have not played it, maybe skip this to remain unspoiled. I love breath of the wild very much, despite the issues present. I have been playing zelda games since I was a kid, starting with collector's disc for gamecube. I got to play zelda 1, 2, ocarina of time, and majora's mask immediately, and then wind waker when it came out, and every game since. I also had a link to the past on gba, and have obviously played a ton of the original snes version since, both vanilla and randomizers. My top three Zelda games in a somewhat uncertain order are Zelda 1, Twilight Princess, A Link to the Past. Minish Cap and Breath of the wild are right behind those. With all this preamble done, Tears of the Kingdom is a mess. The game is such a fumble of what seemed like such an easy follow up. None of breath of the wild's problems are fixed, and an unbelievable amount of new issues are introduced. The story is wholly deplorable, the writing and voice acting is grating and uninteresting, the main story content is a slog and EVEN WORSE than BotW's main dungeons. And the fact that it is a largely reused map with such a long development time is just insane. There is no content in the sky, the content in the depths is monotonous at times, and there are just inumerable shortcomings that are indefensible. That all being said, There are like, 80 really good hours of playtime to this game, and about 30 really bad hours. It still has most of the positives of BotW and some new ones. My first playthrough was on the switch about a week after the game launched. I am now playing the game on my macbook m1, and it runs basically as well if not better at times, with the caveat being the stuttering upon shaders loading. Overall though, I am blown away by the performance here and it is such a positive experience. I am not especially surprised though, as xenoblade 3 was a delight on this mac as well. If you have not played either BotW or TotK, I would say BotW is a must play, and if you love it, maybe try TotK with EXTREMELY tempered expectations.
Neocities
I don't know if this means I am like, "back" on neocities making updates at the pace I was before. Once I am fully done with TotK, I will probably check the site more regularly and check out the updates of the sites I follow, but I do not really have many ambitions for Sponduliocity at this point in time. Staring at this white text while writing these entries really burns up my retinas LOL. I did not miss that aspect. But yeah let me know if there is anything you'd like to see added to this site. Otherwise, I may be dormant for a while longer.
I think that's all I have for you today.
